Tokyo’s 2025 Redevelopment Projects: What Investors Should Know—Part 3

Tokyo is constantly reinventing itself.

Yaesu–Nihonbashi (Tokyo Station Gateway Transformation)

  1. Overview:
This area is undergoing multiple redevelopment projects, jointly forming the “Nihonbashi River Walk”—an 11-hectare fusion of public-private urban renewal, including expressway undergrounding and waterfront revitalization.

  2. Notable Projects:

    • Yaesu 1‑chome North District: Began construction in late 2024. It consists of dual zones: a high-rise, office-centered south district, and a low-rise, retail/community north district along the Nihonbashi River. They’ll be connected via pedestrian decks and improved underground passageways linking Tokyo Station to Nihonbashi Station.

    • TOFROM YAESU (Yaesu 1‑chome East District): A large mixed-use complex set for completion by 2026, directly connected to Tokyo Station at the central exit.

    • Yaesu 2‑chome Development: Also underway—designed to elevate the district as a global business hub with sustainability goals tied to UN SDGs.

  3. Urban & Investment Significance:
These projects will enhance connectivity, public spaces, and international functionality—positioning the area as a premium financial and business quarter.
